The diploma thesis brings a description and realization of new measuring devices which are designed to support student´s laboratory practice of air flow measurement techniques. The new devices and laboratory exercises help students get experience of several methods of measuring which they get to know during mandatory Bachelor's and Master's study programmes. The paper also includes a theoretical background, the knowledge of which is necessary for mastering the issue. Moreover, the paper comprises a literary search of sensors and a market research. The second part of the thesis presents possibilities of the laboratory workplace, and the results of the measurements of the new laboratory devices used for sample laboratory exercises.

Cleaning of ventilation systems and potential energy savings
Lapáček, Milan ; Rubina, Aleš (referee) ; Máša, Vítězslav (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is to explore fouling of air ducts and its influence on energy consumption of HVAC systems. The first part focuses on typical parts that create the IAQ in buildings and on evaluating energy consumption of air transportation. The following section deals with the theories of fluid flow, flow regimes and pressure losses that are created as a side effect. The thesis outlines possible methods of assessing the impact of pollution with an emphasis on pressure losses and their influence on the fan power consumption. The actual experimental measurement, conducted in a selected industrial plant, is focused on an influence of cleanness of textile diffuser on HVAC device power consumption. For the further research of this process, measuring equipment with suitable measurement method is designed and constructed.
Transport and Deposition of Aerosol in Human Respiratory Tract
Elcner, Jakub ; Kratochvíl, Zdeněk (referee) ; Volavý, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jícha, Miroslav (advisor)
One of approaches in treatment of respiratory system diseases is the use of drug particles suspended in air in the form of aerosol. It is a fast and non-invasive method for the delivery of medicine into tracheobronchial tree or bloodstream. Although the method of the medication dosage by means of inhalers or nebulizers is well known, the effectiveness of that approach is still an actual issue. A significant amount of drugs delivered with the use of the medication dosage never reaches its primary destination and the drugs deposit in antecendent areas of respiratory tract where their presence is not required. This thesis deals with a problem of the passage of monodisperse homogenous aerosol with micron-size particles through the upper parts of the respiratory tract. This work was created with the use of numerical simulations carried out by means of the finite volume method in the commercial code based on computational fluid dynamics. Turbulence was modelled using the Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes equations with the two-equation eddy viscosity k-omega SST model. The main output of the thesis is the analysis of airflow in two respiratory regimes. Stationary and cyclic cases of the flow behaviour were considered and the validation of simulated results with experiments performed on similar geometries was carried out. Furthermore, the review of simplified lung models and their geometries was made and the acquired results were used for the calculation of air distribution in the respiratory tract. The last part of the thesis deals with the calculation of particle deposition and with the analysis of the results.
Aerodynamic components of Formula 1 vehicles
Mazáč, Petr ; Beran, Martin (referee) ; Vančura, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with research themed aerodynamic components of Formula 1 vehicles. The beginning of the thesis is focused on basic of aerodynamic and generating downforce. Afterwards it deals with developement of aerodynamic from the beginning of Formula 1 to the present time, followed by categorization of the various aerodynamic elements which were used on vehicles throughout the history of the sport and in the present time with their construction description. It also summarizes active aerodynamic components.
Evaluation of noise of ventilation outlet for a passenger car cabine
Libřický, Stanislav ; Vaňková, Marie (referee) ; Jedelský, Jan (advisor)
The thesis deals with issues of noise ventilation outlets in a passenger car. There is a description of the noise reduction in the acoustic background, optimizing experimental measurement methodology and familiarization with measuring equipment. The next step includes measuring of individual outlet options, results post-processing and comparison of tested alternatives. Based on these results the best variants are chosen and measures for decreasing noise in the ventilation outlets are proposed.
Ventilation in sports facility
Frühauf, Patrik ; Šikula, Ondřej (referee) ; Rubinová, Olga (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with ventilation in sports facility. The objective of this work is to design two or three air-conditioning units in the part of assigned building. The bachelor thesis is divided into three main parts: theoretical part, calculation part and project. The theme for theoretical part is air distribution. Attention is especially devoted to airflow in a room, piping system and distribution elements. The calculation part is practically focused on designing of air-condition units. The last part of bachelor thesis is formed as documentation for sports facility.
Ultrasonic measurement system
Ondraczka, Lukáš ; Solčanský, Marek (referee) ; Vaněk, Jiří (advisor)
The work deals with development and assembly of ultrasonic airflow measurement module for measurement of air flowing around photovoltaic panel. This system allows quantification of photovoltaic panel air cooling. The work contains development of sine wave generator, bridge amplifier and receiver with passive band pass filter, amplifier and comparator. It also deals with digital part realization. This digital part is formed by Renesas 78K0R microcontroller on demo board. The last part of this work contains testing of the whole system in aerodynamic tunnel and on photovoltaic panel installation.
Use of Animal Biological Strategies to Reduce Vehicle Noise
Kovács, Gergő ; Vacula, Jiří (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the use of biological strategies of animals to reduce vehicle noise. First, the basic concepts of acoustics and the mentioned causes of noise in a car are clarified. A substantial part is devoted to a more detailed analysis of individual animals and their techniques. The main goal of this work is to analyze the noise reduction rate of these strategies and their potential use in transport, specifically in cars.
Ventilation of the building envelope
Šagát, Erik ; Chybík,, Josef (referee) ; Bura,, Roman (referee) ; Matějka, Libor (advisor)
The dissertation thesis is focused on non-transparent ventilated façade constructions, airflow in the ventilated cavity and the building envelope temperatures in relation with the different parameters of the construction and the ventilated cavity. The aim of this work is to optimize the temperature behavior of the building envelope during the summer season when the overheating is the most distinctive. The numerical and experimental methods with many different variants of façade constructions were used to investigation. The variants were compared and evaluated by the measured values of airflow speed in the ventilated cavity, temperature in the ventilated cavity and on the surfaces of constructions around the cavity. The result of the investigation is the evaluation of the influence of the airflow resistances or the reflectance of the surfaces around the ventilated cavity. Part of the thesis was formulated in relation with the project of MPPF - Multifunctional Plug & Play Facade during the internship at TU Graz. The efficiency of some parts of the energy active façade in this project depends on the temperature. The part of the results is the patented passive system for ventilation of building envelope and the patented cavity panel for ventilated facades.
